Blueberry Lemonade
This homemade blueberry lemonade combines a blueberry simple syrup with lemon juice. Only four ingredients that come together to create a refreshing, sweet, and tart summer drink!

I grew up in TN and never heard of blueberry lemonade. I remember the first time I went to the pumpkin patch in MS. There was a stand that said blueberry lemonade. Honestly how could that be bad!
It was a beautiful reddish color and after the first sip it exceeded expectations. The only problem was that it wasn’t going to be available to be year round.
Of course that meant it was time to figure out how to make it. I knew that would involve a decent amount of sugar. This is definitely a summer treat and not something we make and keep all the time because of it.
It’s so nice to have a treat like this when we have company, a pool day, bbq cookout, birthday celebration, etc. I love when someone who has never had it before gets a taste and realizes they have been drinking lemonade all wrong.
Why You’ll Love This Blueberry Lemonade
Easy- It really is four simple ingredients and a few short steps. Simply cook the blueberries in some water and sugar. Strain the chunks of blueberry. Add in the juice and water. Its really that easy!
Versatile- While blueberry lemonade is my personal favorite it’s not the only option. You can make this same recipe with all types of fruit. Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, peaches, and more.
Make Ahead- Every time I have a gathering to make something for I am more likely to make something I can do ahead of time. This can be made in advance and ready to go when its time to serve!

Tips for Making Blueberry Lemonade
- You can use frozen or fresh blueberries!
- Fresh squeezed lemon juice is another option. It may alter the tart to sweet ratio. I prefer using the bottled lemon juice from Costco. You can find it here.
- When making the simple syrup you can also just do the blueberries and water first. Strain it and then add in your sugar.
- Get creative! You can make this same recipe with any fruit of choice!

Ingredients
- 2 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 cups lemon juice
Instructions
- In a sauce pan combine the blueberries, sugar, and water. Turn the heat onto medium and let the blueberry sugar mixture create a simple syrup. I leave it for about 20 minutes. If it gets too hot and boiling turn the heat down.
- Towards the end make sure all the blueberries are smushed to get all that good juice out.
- Using a strainer over a bowl pour the the blueberry mixture in. The strainer will catch all the blueberry pieces. I will smash them to make sure I get all the good syrup and even pour a little more water over them to help.
- In a gallon sized pitcher add the blueberry simple syrup and lemon juice. Fll the rest of the pitcher with water and give it a good stir.
Notes
- You can switch the blueberries for your fruit of choice. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and peaches are all great options for lemonade.
- Don't forget how much blueberries can stain! Be sure you pay attention to the mess you make. Speaking from experience, haha.
