This tuna salad recipe is made with the simplest ingredients to make a delicious sandwich or snack.

Every time my husband and I would go visit his family he would request his mom’s tuna salad. I personally am allergic to tuna and so I never made it for us but I finally asked for the recipe one day and decided to start trying to master it. As most family recipes I was told there wasn’t a recipe at all but she would try to write something down for me to go off of. I tried for years to perfect it and I finally think I nailed it. I now make this tuna every other week for my husband to take to work.

This simple salad is a perfect meal prep for busy weeks because it only takes a little time to whip up. When your ready to serve this up just eat it in a lettuce wrap or with crackers for a healthy lunch. My husband prefers to eat this on my homemade sandwich bread though which is delicious!

Tips and Tricks

  • I suggest to use good quality tuna for this recipe. I make sure to use albacore tuna in water and make sure to drain the excess water really well.
  • This is best with Duke’s mayonnaise but any mayonnaise would work.
  • You can add onion or celery to this for some added flavor and crunch.
  • I use whole gherkins and dice them myself because that is what my mother-in-law has always done but you could easily use sweet relish.
  • My mother-in-law likes her tuna really sweet so she adds a tbsp or so of sugar to her tuna and my husband loves it.

Things You’ll Need

  • Mixing Bowl ( I like to use these so I don’t dirty up more dishes. )
