Strawberry Shortcake
Strawberry Shortcake is the perfect southern summer dessert! Combine homemade biscuits, ice cream, and sugared strawberries for a refreshing pick me up!

When I was dating my husband it didn’t take long for me to pick up on the fact that fruity desserts were his favorite. He always requested apple dumplings, cobbler, or strawberry shortcake.
Anytime I had ever had strawberry shortcake it was with sponge cake of some sort. Seeing his mom throw biscuits in the oven was new to me. Once I had it for the first time I was hooked. The texture of a biscuit with vanilla ice cream and sugared strawberries was the perfect combination!
My husband was used to frozen biscuits for his strawberry shortcake, which if I’m being honest is also delicious. However, I have finally mastered my homemade biscuit recipe and decided to try them instead. My exact words, if you weren’t already in love with me, you will be now! They make the perfect base for strawberry shortcake! You can find that recipe here.
Why You’ll Love Strawberry Shortcake
Easy- My biscuit recipe is super simple and comes together in under 30 minutes. The strawberries simply need to be cut and coated in sugar overnight. Then it’s just a matter of assembly. Such an easy way to make a delicious and fresh summer dessert.
Versatile- Honestly you can eat this in so many different ways. Some prefer pound cake, angel food cake, sponge cake, or biscuits. Some prefer cool whip over ice cream. You can use any of these options to customize your strawberry shortcake!
Homemade- I love a dessert that can be made fully from scratch. It’s so satisfying knowing you are feeding your family with real food and not fake stuff from the grocery store. The ultimate way to eat this dessert is with my homemade biscuits, homemade vanilla ice cream, and the sugared strawberries!
