In my opinion apples are the perfect fruit for any time of year. They are delicious year round for different reasons. However you do seem to think about apples more in the fall. Warm apple cider and apple butter spread all over a hot biscuit. My mouth is watering typing this!!
We recently were blessed enough to go visit the blue ridge mountains in the peak of fall! There were apple orchards all over the map. I remember going to one and being in awe of all the things you could possibly make with apples. My favorite was their apple cider slushy!
We got to sample all the apple varieties they had there. My favorite was the cosmic crisp! It inspired me to come home and make my own yummy apple recipe. I love how simple yet flavorful this recipe is. It uses up any type of apples you have on hand and comes out perfect every time.

- This recipe can use any variety of apples you have on hand.
- If you aren’t a fan or can’t have nuts then discard the pecans. You can also sub them for walnuts.
- Don’t forget to grab some ice cream to top it with!
How to Make Apple Dump Cake


In a bowl add your diced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar.
Add the apple mixture to a 9×13 baking dish.


Sprinkle the butter cake mix evenly over the top. Add the 1 cup of butter evenly across the top.
Last top it with pecans and the other 1/4 cup sugar. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes to an hour or until golden brown on top.
Tips
- Be sure to cook it long enough. Every oven is different. I have cooked mine an hour before. It needs to be browned on the top and look done.
- Eat it HOT! This dump cake taste best when you eat it hot with ice cream.
- I store mine on the counter at room temp.

- 5 cups of apples, peeled and diced into 1 inch pieces
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- butter cake mix
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup sugar
Notes
- In my opinion this recipe goes best with a normal sweet apple like honeycrisp. I wouldn't prefer it with granny smith but they will certainly work if that is what you have.
- You could play with the spices and add some cardamom or even do brown sugar instead of white to make a richer flavor.
- Be sure you cover the entire surface with butter or you will have dry spots.
- Its best served warm with vanilla ice cream on top!
