Cooking from scratch is always preferable. I love waking up and making a dutch baby, breakfast casserole, oatmeal, or sourdough waffles. From scratch isn’t always in the cards for me though. Some mornings I need something prepped and ready that only took a few minutes to throw together.
That is exactly what these pinwheels are. Quick, easy, make ahead, and delicious. They are kid friendly and will disappear before your eyes off the pan.
Technically you could make your own crescent roll dough. Add some good quality sausage and raw cheese and these turn into a from scratch meal. I’m sure they would be a new favorite in your home.
My sister made these one time that I was at her house and hands were flying to grab more. We usually make them for our Sunday morning breakfast since we are all busy getting ready for worship. It’s an easy Saturday night throw together and people can grab them as they get ready.

How to Make Sausage Pinwheels


On a piece of parchment roll out one tube of the crescent dough sheets. Use half the lb of breakfast sausage and place all over the dough. Then add half the cheese over the top.


Roll up the dough starting at the long end of the pinwheels. Wrap them with Saran Wrap and store them in the fridge. Repeat the first few steps to create the second half of the pinwheels.


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove the pinwheels from the fridge and slide them about 1/2 inch thick and place on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes or until browned. Repeat with the second half of the pinwheels. Serve with jelly.

- If you only have regular cresent rolls that is fine to use. Just pinch the seams together.
- Hot sausage is a great addition and gives it lots of flavor.
- You could use any type of cheese you like, this is a great recipe to use up bits of cheeses you have in your fridge.
- If one roll is enough then use the other half of the pinwheels the next morning.
- Don’t skip the jelly! Just trust me and try it!

- 1-2 8 oz blocks of cheddar cheese, shredded
Notes
- If you only have regular cresent rolls that is fine to use. Just pinch the seams together.
