This simple blueberry pineapple dump cake is the best summer dessert! Its called a dump cake for a reason, just simply dump and bake for a crowd pleasing treat!

Sometimes it’s the easiest recipes that take almost no effort that taste the best! This dump cake falls into that category. You can make this even with zero baking skills. It seems almost too good to be true when you eat it and immediately fall in love!

The first time I had this I was shocked to learn it had pineapple but something about this combo just works. That cake topping is so buttery and sweet. The blueberries have just enough sweet and tart. Oh, and don’t forget the ice cream! The ice cream really puts this dessert over the top for taste!

Why You’ll Love This Blueberry Pineapple Dump Cake

Easy- Its called a dump cake for a reason. This recipe simply dumps a few ingredients together and then sprinkles a few ingredients on top. Its really that easy!

Quick- When we have a potluck or gathering and I need a quick dessert to put together this is a go to. I can throw it together in under 10 minutes and pop it in the oven while I focus on everything else. Then when dessert time comes your guest will be impressed despite how quickly it came together.

Versatile- Dump cakes are no secret. There are so many variations of this recipe you could try. Peach, apple, cherry pineapple, mixed berry, etc. Just change out the fruit and use the same topping to create whatever combo sounds good!

Ingredients

  • I prefer to use frozen blueberries but this recipe would work with fresh as well.
  • It’s important to use crushed pineapple in this recipe and not large chunks.
  • For the nuts I have used walnuts or pecans. I don’t think it makes any difference so use whichever you have on hand.
  • Don’t forget to grab some ice cream!!

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can crushed pineapples
  • 3 cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. In a medium sized bowl combine blueberries, pineapple, and 3/4 cup of sugar. You can do this directly into the 9x13 but I prefer a bowl since I'm spraying the pan. I don't want to stir that all in.
  2. Pour into sprayed 9x13 dish. Sprinkle yellow cake mix evenly over the fruit mixture.
  3. Slice butter into pieces about 1/2 tbsp each. Place them all across the cake mix to form an even layer.
  4. Sprinkle with nuts and 1/4 cup more sugar.
  5. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure the top is browned.

Notes

  • Make sure the entire surface is going to have butter on it when it bakes. If not you will have dry spots on your cake.
  • You could easily switch out the fruit and use the same method to make a different type of dump cake. This combo is perfect to me!
  • Serving it with ice cream is a must!
