This recipe was created and given to me by a friend. She has always made the best bbq for events. I was shocked when I found out just how easy it was to make fall apart delicious pulled pork.

In the past I always thought I would cook something on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours and get good results. It makes all the difference to let it cook for 10 hours. It gives you fall apart meat to use in all types of different ways.

I love a recipe that yields so many possibilities. You can throw this in the crockpot and decide later what you want to do with the meat. Add it to a baked sweet potato, make a sheet pan of nachos, add to a toasted bun, or even stuff it into an egg roll.

How to Make Crock BBQ Pulled Pork

Step 1: Add 2 cups of water to your crock pot and place your pork butt on top.

Step 2: In a bowl mix together mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and garlic salt.

Step 3: Pour the mixture over the pork butt. Cook on low for 9-10 hours.

Step 4: Shred the meat.

Step 5: There are so many ways to eat this pulled pork. You can simply place it on a toasted bun and drizzle with your favorite bbq sauce. (mine is kinder hot honey) Toss it in bbq sauce and bake on a baking sheet for 20 minutes to give it some crispy edges. Use for bbq nachos or top a baked sweet potato. You could even do bbq egg rolls. So many possibilities!!!

Tips for Making Pulled Pork

  • The key to making the best pulled pork is cooking it for a long time on low. If you put it in first thing in the morning and let it cook for 10 hours it will fall apart!
  • You can easily adjust the mixture that is poured on top. Add more mustard if that is a preference in taste for you. Add more brown sugar if you like a really sweet bbq. If you prefer it less sweet do less brown sugar.

Ingredients

  • Boston Pork Butt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1 Tbsp garlic salt
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. In your crockpot add 2 cups of water.
  2. Place your pork butt into the crock pot.
  3. In a bowl mix together brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, mustard, and garlic salt. Pour it over the pork butt.
  4. Cook on low for 9-10 hours.
  5. Shred the meat and top with your favorite bbq sauce.

Notes

    • You can toss it in the sauce, drizzle it on top of the meat, or coat the meat in sauce and bake in the oven for 20 minutes on 350 to get it a crispier texture.
    • This recipe is easily tweeked to fit your preference. If you prefer a more mustard taste add a little extra. If you prefer it sweeter add more brown sugar or do less for a less sweet option.
