All the memories of us eating one on a date night out in college. Now my kids are enjoying them too!

Our family always has a difference of opinion on which cake flavor they like best. Mine is yellow cake mix with chocolate chips in the batter. My husbands is chocolate cake and my kids is the red velvet. We have other great red velvet recipes.

Why You’ll Love This Red Velvet Lava Cake Recipe

Simple- Even the beginning baker can make these lava cakes to wow their guest. You simply use a box cake mix and then assemble them!

Versatile- You can change up this recipe by switching the cake mix flavor. The red velvet is a great way to have a festive dessert for Christmas or Valentines. Chocolate is the most classic flavor, but I love a yellow cake mix with chocolate chips. Strawberry with a white chocolate center sounds delicious also.
