Serve them up with ketchup for the kids as a great french fry substitute. This recipe makes a decent amount, but the leftovers reheat so well. Just throw them back in the oven or air fry them so they have that delicious crispy texture again.

These can be very versatile and change flavor profiles based on what spices you use. If you prefer a spicy taste then add some cayenne pepper to give them a kick. They would make a great base for a bbq bowl as well. You could even give them a holiday flare and coat them in a brown sugar cinnamon mixture for a sweet potato casserole vibe.

How to Make Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Step 1: Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Peel the sweet potatoes.

Step 2: Dice the sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch to 1 inch sized pieces.

Step 3: Sprinkle on the spices and oil. Toss till evenly coated.

Step 4: Line a large baking sheet with foil and spread your sweet potatoes in a single layer. Bake for 10 minutes and then remove and toss. Cook an additional 5 minutes and then turn your oven to broil for up to 5 more minutes to get them crispy on the outside.

Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 sweet potatoes
  • 3 Tbsp avocado oil ( or olive oil)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Peel and dice sweet potatoes in 1/2 inch -1 inch pieces. Put into a medium sized bowl.
  3. On top of the sweet potatoes sprinkle on all the spices and oil. Toss until everything is evenly distributed.
  4. Place on a foil or parchment lined baking sheet. The largest one you have!
  5. Cook for 10 minutes and pull them out and toss them a bit. Place back in the oven and cook another 5 minutes. At this point I turn my oven to broil and let them get some yummy crispy bits on the outside. Be sure you pay attention to them. Leave them for up to 5 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately. My kids love dipping them in ketchup!

Notes

  • These are easy to manipulate with different spices. For a spicy sweet potato season with cayenne pepper.
  • A great meal idea is to use these as the base for a bbq bowl!
  • For kids add some ketchup on the side and these make a great french fry substitute.
  • Watch them while they are on broil and don't burn them.
